The Story Behind Memory Foam
In the early 1970's, NASA's Ames Research Center funded a development project designed to create a substance that could help relieve astronauts of the incredible Pressure applied during lift-off. They believed that one of the key secrets to reducing pressure from g-forces on the body was to use a specially treated foam material that could conform to each Individual’s shape and hold this conformity. Scientists then created a new foam material that was named “visco-elastic” and therefore able to conform to a Individual's shape, but then Return back to it’s original shape once pressure was removed from the Material. This would then allow an even distribution of pressure or body weight over the entire surface of the Material, but quickly adapt to any movements endured by the individual.

In the 1980s scientists then started to redevelop and perfect the original Visco-Elastic Material for distribution through out the world!. This Visco-elastic product now called “memory foam” was a great product to relieve pressure in the medical field to reduce and eliminate bed sores and other Pressure causing issues that bed ridden patients would endure. With this success other foam manufacturers in throughout the world began to develop their own visco-elastic memory foam material to offer mattress stores and specialty product companies the ability to allow consumers to have a variety of options and price levels to choose from.

What Exactly Is Memory Foam?
Memory Foam is a synthetic polyurethane foam material treated with certain types of non-toxic ingredients which add an increase in weight or density to the foam. However, there are many features along the way that will help determine what type of memory foam you need.
